Today our team is comprised of a multidisciplinary and highly qualified group of leading professionals, analysts and administrative staff. The Delphi team is accomplished, highly creative, flexible and ultra-responsive to client and project demands.

Our Management Team

Mike Gerbis, P. Eng., CEO

Mike GerbisMichael is responsible for overseeing the growth and strategic direction of The Delphi Group, including all aspects of business and financial management, marketing, communications and partnership development. Michael provides strategic advice and insight to clients and project teams across Delphi's key services areas – strategic management, climate change, corporate sustainability, market intelligence and environmental policy and program design. 

Michael joined The Delphi Group as a Director and then VP Environment and Technology where he helped government and companies develop policy and strategic options that supported the growth of Canada’s emerging environment and clean tech industry.   He was also Managing Editor of Environmental Business Canada, a unique and innovative environmental business newsletter providing strategic market intelligence on all aspects of Canada’s environment industry.

Prior to joining Delphi, Michael owned and operated a successful environmental engineering consulting firm, which focused on developing and implementing corporate pollution prevention strategies.  He has over 20 years of experience in the environment industry, along with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Chemical Eng.  from Queens University and a Masters Degree in Environmental Engineering  from McMaster University. 

Michael is actively involved in the community coaching hockey and actively educating youth through SHAD Valley International (www.shad.ca) and regular presentations to university and high school students across the country on issues such as climate change, clean energy and sustainable development.  Michael is the founder of the Emerging Leaders Forum (www.leadingchange2012.ca) and founding President of The Climate Reality Project – Canada (www.climatereality.ca), a not-for-profit group devoted to raising awareness in Canada about climate change.  Michael is also on the Advisory Committee Member for Algonquin College's Green Business management Program and a former Board member of the Ottawa Chapter of Young Environmental Professionals (www.yep.ca).

Michael enjoys running, playing hockey and golf, and experiencing what the world has to offer with his  wife Deb and his  two boys Thomas and Kieran.

Bruce Dudley, Senior Vice President

Bruce DudleyBruce is a senior consultant with Delphi's Sustainability Services where he leads activity in the mining and pharmaceutical sectors. His primary responsibilities in these areas are to offer high-level strategic advice to corporations on various aspects of Sustainable Development planning and execution as well as program design and implementation. Bruce also leads Delphi's public services area. His role is focused on the environmental policies of government and the application of smart regulation and other regulatory and non-regulatory approaches to effect change in corporate and public behaviour.

Prior to assuming his role in Corporate Sustainability Services Bruce led Delphi's Health and Environment practice and was recognized as one of Canada's leading experts in the strategic integration of health and environmental issues. This practice involved innovative policy and technology solutions that enabled governments and private corporations to reduce human and eco-system health risks arising from industrial emissions and hazardous products.

Bruce joined the Delphi Group with over 20 years of experience in the Healthcare sector. In the final stage of his healthcare career he was responsible for the quality and risk management programs in two tertiary care teaching hospitals. As the lead Director of a Corporate Total Quality Management program for 1,200 employees, Bruce is familiar with organizational change dynamics, principal based management efforts and outcome evaluation.

Bruce is a regular volunteer for local fundraising events for childhood cancer and has been actively working on enhancing research capacity globally for Neuroblastoma. He is also the Vice Chair of the Ottawa Valley Chapter of the Air and Waste Management Association.

Bruce is an avid wine maker and has been developing one of Stittsville's premier wine cellars – he spends a lot of time in the basement. He also enjoys golf and hockey.

Ted Ferguson, Vice President

Ted Ferguson Ted is an expert in corporate sustainability and climate change. He has over 15 years experience working with leading edge companies, government initiatives and non-government organizations which seek to bridge the gap between business needs, energy issues, environmental concerns, and long-term sustainability. As a senior manager at The Delphi Group, he is also part of the leadership team that ensures Delphi’s services are tailored to client needs and offer the optimal business solutions to sustainability issues.

Delphi’s clients include some of Canada’s largest and most trusted companies and Ted leads Delphi’s services on sustainability and carbon strategies with many of them. In this capacity he has built long standing relationships with companies in a variety of sectors, including energy, food and beverage, telecommunications, utility, and financial. Ted focuses on providing clients strategic insight, technical and risk analyses, feasibility studies, barriers and opportunities assessments, business development plans, and recommendations for long-term sustainability and improved carbon management. Ted also leads Delphi’s responsibilities as substantive secretariat to EXCEL: Canada’s Business & Sustainability Partnership. In this role he provides strategic leadership and facilitation to Canada’s longest standing business-focused learning partnership, which has 18 of the country’s largest companies as members.

Prior to joining Delphi, Ted worked for BC Hydro, where he was responsible for corporate sustainability strategy, policy engagement on carbon regulations, and climate change risk management, focusing on green power development and energy efficiency. While at BC Hydro, he was Chair of the Canadian Electricity Association’s Technical climate change committee.  Ted also has worked for Foreign Affairs Canada, helping to develop the first set of rules and guidelines for the international emission markets. Ted was project coordinator for Canada’s earliest foray into greenhouse gas trading. Prior to that, he worked for the David Suzuki Foundation on a variety of environmental issues.

Beyond Delphi, Ted leads an active and engaged life with his wife and two boys. Ted is leading up the Hilson Ave Public School Greening Project which includes the creation of an outdoor classroom. He is also secretary for Velo MSM, the mountain bike club at Mont Ste Marie, QC.  

Evelyn Walker, Vice President

Evelyn is the Vice President, Western Canada responsible for servicing our western clients and leading Delphi’s continued expansion effort westward. Evelyn brings over 30 years of experience with the energy sector in Calgary, including, corporate risk management, climate change and air quality policy, as well as a wealth of knowledge in emissions reductions, international carbon credit transactions, contracts, and project due diligence.

Prior to joining Delphi, Evelyn was the Director of Risk for Natsource Asset Management Corp. (Calgary) and co-managed the Greenhouse Gas Credit Aggregation Pool (GG-CAP), the world's first private sector mechanism valued at over €500 million on first close, and designed to assist companies to cost-effectively meet greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction targets. GG-CAP participants included some of the largest consumer product, manufacturing, energy and utility companies in Europe, Japan and North America. Evelyn also spent 13 years at TransCanada, one of Canada’s largest integrated energy companies. At TransCanada, Evelyn held a number of senior climate change, air policy, and risk management positions within the Power Generation business. While at TransCanada, she spent two years in key roles on the CASA Electricity Project Team on behalf of the Alberta PPA Holders and co-chaired the Cogeneration Committee with Alberta Environment.

Evelyn received a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Calgary and qualified as a chartered accountant in 1994. Her financial background and experience working in the realm of corporate risk and carbon markets has provided her with the ability to advise companies on how to effectively identify, quantify, and mitigate carbon risks within the context of increased management, reporting, and disclosure expectations of the regulators and financial community.

Evelyn is passionate about mentoring young women for leadership roles and supports the activities of the Canadian Women’s Foundation in Canada. In her spare time she likes to enjoy all the activities the Rocky mountains have to offer.

Stephan Wehr, Vice President

Stephan WehrStephan leads Delphi’s work in the area of greenhouse gas and air emission quantitative analysis, overseeing a diverse team of analysts and project managers trained in engineering and environmental disciplines. He is also responsible for development and maintenance of internal quality management systems at Delphi.

Stephan is a leading Canadian expert on GHG emission quantification, reporting, and validation / verification standards and programs such as ISO 14064 and 14065, WRI/WBCSD GHG Protocol, and both regulated and voluntary reporting and offset systems. He has managed an extensive number of Delphi projects, including development of GHG inventories, offset protocols and project documentation, and analytical tools, and is a key contributor to policy analysis and GHG management strategy development efforts. Stephan is also involved in a range of training-related activities, including development of an expert level ISO 14064-2 GHG offset course for the Canadian Standards Association (CSA), and delivery of ISO 14064 and 14065-related training sessions in Canada and internationally on behalf of clients such as CSA, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), and the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).

Prior to joining The Delphi Group, Stephan served in policy analysis and issues management capacities with the Ontario Ministry of the Environment and Ministry of Energy, and earned Bachelor and Master of Applied Science degrees in environmental / chemical engineering from the University of Toronto. Stephan is also a past member of the Canadian Armed Forces Naval Reserve, and was awarded the Canadian Forces Decoration recognizing twelve years of service in 2004.

Stephan has varied interests, including: canoeing and cycling; understanding the interface between science and the media, the public, and policy makers; and doing his own home electrical wiring.

Our Delphites

Marcela Aray, Director, Carbon Markets

Marcela Aray Marcela recently joined The Delphi Group as Director, Carbon Markets. Prior to joining Delphi, Marcela worked with Natsource Asset Management and managed the carbon cycle of a portfolio of 14 Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) projects worldwide with a total value of approximately C$120 million. In addition, she provided technical and financial advice to the Director of Commercial Operations in structuring and negotiating Emission Reduction Purchase Agreements (ERPAs).

In a previous position within Natsource, Marcela modeled emission reduction calculations for various CDM and JI projects in a wide variety of technologies. Additionally, she carried out project risk assessments by examining the strengths and weaknesses associated with the projects.

Prior to joining Natsource, Marcela was a Senior Renewable Energy Analyst at NUON Energy in Amsterdam. She worked on the financial evaluation of investments in renewable energy projects. She also carried out comparative analysis of the National Allocation Plans under the EU Emission Trading System and the likely status of NUON based on expected emissions and allowances to be allocated.

Marcela enjoys cooking (and eating) international cuisine. She also enjoys working out; particularly kick-boxing.

Dave D’Agostino, Project Manager

Dave D'AgostinoDave is a creative and technically-strong chemical engineer who thrives on solving challenging technical problems. As Project Manager, David helps Delphi provide greenhouse gas (GHG) and air emissions management services, including quantitative analysis as well as development of emission reduction project documentation and reports.

Dave brings real-world manufacturing experience to his work at Delphi. He has proven experience working directly with renewable energy technologies and has contributed to two different world's firsts in the areas of photovoltaics and biofuels. He has worked in a variety of engineering capacities, ranging from research and development to process engineering and design and has developed solid project management and technical skills.

David has a Master's Degree in Applied Science from McMaster University. He is an outdoor enthusiast spending as much free time as possible in nature where he enjoys backcountry skiing, mountain biking, canoeing, hiking, and farming.

Jimmy Desai, Technical Analyst - Greenhouse Gases

Jimmy DesaiJimmy helps provide Delphi greenhouse gas (GHG) and air emissions management services, including quantitative analysis and development of emission reduction project documentation and reports. He also investigates an assortment of issues in the areas of climate change, clean energy and environmental technologies.

Before joining Delphi, Jimmy was the co-founder of a small clean-energy project development firm. He also worked as a software developer at a highly reputed firm, developing software for telecommunications companies and translates those skills into developing tools and models for Delphi's clients.

Jimmy has a Bachelor in Applied Sciences in Electrical Engineering from the University of Ottawa and is an avid glider pilot.

Brad Fowler, Technical Analyst

Brad FowlerAs a Technical Analyst with Delphi, Brad Fowler provides Delphi with greenhouse gas (GHG) and air emission management skills, including quantitative analysis and development of project documentation and reports. He has strong insight and analytical abilities from the combination of both his business and engineering education. He is also bilingual (French and English) and brings his language skills to projects as required.

Brad brings to Delphi his past exposure to the clean technology area through his work at Iogen helping them commission their novel ethanol process. He also has extensive volunteer experience, from planning and executing a charity event benefiting the David Suzuki Foundation, to the management of Science Formal, a $100,000 budget year end gala for students at Queen’s University.

Brad has a Master of Science in Management from the London School of Economics as well as a Bachelor of Applied Science in Chemical and Engineering from Queen’s University. He thoroughly enjoys traveling as well as spending as much time as possible in the outdoors throughout all seasons.

Nancy Greene, Manager, Operations & Procurement

Nancy GreeneNancy is responsible for office management and providing support to fellow Delphi staff.  Prior to joining Delphi, Nancy was the Manager of Finance and Financial Reporting at Natsource, working in the corporation’s accounting department as well as providing administrative support on a wide variety of environmental consulting projects in the fields of greenhouse gas emissions trading, climate change and risk management. Nancy was also the financial manager for two CIDA projects on adaptation in the Caribbean and Nigeria with a combined value of $4.7 million.

Nancy also has over 15 years in event planning having organized workshops and conferences ranging from 20 – 300 people for an assortment of corporate and government clients across Canada in addition to two international events in Bangkok, Thailand for the United Nations and in Madrid, Spain.

Nancy enjoys spending time with her three children and volunteering with Kin Canada as President of the Kinette Club of Brockville.

Cheryl Johnson, Research Analyst

Cheryl JohnsonAs a Research Analyst, Cheryl contributes The Delphi Group’s climate change and sustainability policy analysis work. She also augments Delphi’s products and consulting projects.

Prior to joining Delphi, Cheryl worked in the non-governmental & advocacy sector in international, government and member relations. She has extensive quantitative and qualitative research experience in both technical and policy-based fields.

Cheryl is completing a Master’s in Public Policy & Administration with a concentration in Innovation, Science & the Environment at Carleton University. Her research focuses on energy policy, with a strong interest in electricity systems from generation, transmission, and regulation, to consumption. She previously graduated from Carleton with an Honours Bachelor of Science in Integrated Science & Policy, with a minor in math. An active member of her school community, Cheryl is the VP Finance & Administration of her department’s student society and participates in the editorial board of a student-run peer-reviewed journal, ISEMA.

David Photiadis, Sustainability Analyst

David PhotiadisAs a Sustainability Analyst, David contributes to the Delphi Group’s Sustainability Services, including sustainability strategy development, stakeholder engagement, sustainability benchmarking, and thought leadership.  David also supports the Delphi Group’s policy analysis and GHG services.

David recently completed his MA at the University of Toronto, with a concentration in business and sustainability and a secondary research focus on Ontario’s Green Energy Act.  David has a broad interdisciplinary background of the environmental field, with a research interest in business-government relations and has researched topics including climate change mitigation strategies, climate and renewable energy policy, natural resource management, and behaviour change from both corporate and public policy perspectives.

 Prior to joining Delphi, David worked as a Carbon Analyst for a Toronto-based software company calculating GHG emissions for corporate carbon inventories and product carbon Life Cycle Assessments (LCA).  He has also worked at the University of Toronto’s Sustainability Office, specializing in Green Procurement and Supply Chain, and as a Research Assistant at the University of Toronto’s Center for Environment.

 

Steven Pacifico, Manager, Sustainability and Stakeholder Engagement

Steven PacificoSteven is an energetic and motivated professional with extensive experience identifying sustainability issues, designing/implementing organizational and behaviour change projects, communicating and marketing sustainability issues to the public and private sector, and analyzing corporate social responsibility documentation.

Steven joins the Delphi Group with over 10 years experience and education in the environmental sector (Public, Private, and eNGO). His main experience is in helping organizations implement large scale programs focused on sustainability issues. He also has extensive experience designing successful projects that use community-based social marketing in order to facilitate sustainable behaviour changes.

He has a Master of Environmental Studies from York University in Applied Sustainable Development for Organizational Change. In addition, he has a Diploma in Business and Sustainability from the Schulich School of Business. His undergraduate degree is in Environmental Sciences from the University of Guelph, focusing on Environmental Impact Assessment and Protection.

Steven currently sits on the Board of the ICARUS Foundation which is a Canadian not-for-profit environmental, policy, research and education organization focused on sustaining a climate friendly tourism industry.

Joe Rogers, Ph.D., Director, Research & Technology Services

Joe RogersAs a key part of Delphi’s Climate Change services team, Joe provides technical support including quantitative analysis and the development of emission reduction project documentation and reports. Through his experience as a doctorate-level researcher in environmental chemical engineering, he has developed an extensive understanding of baseline and project emissions, and estimating overall emission reductions and removals. Joe is an expert in greenhouse gas and criteria air contaminant (CAC) emissions generated from combustion and the behaviour of trace elements during high-temperature processes.

Prior to joining us, Joe worked for a wastewater treatment technology company where he liaised with site owners and designing engineers, providing technical and regulatory information for treatment plant design and installation.

Joe has recently completed a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, focusing on the quantification and behaviour of emissions from treated timber (CCA) combustion with a specific focus on the behaviour of volatilized arsenic. Publishing his work in scientific papers and industry reports as well as making presentations at conferences and industry workshops has enabled Joe to explain complex information and analyses in a clear, concise and accessible manner. He also holds a Bachelor of Applied Science specializing in Environmental Engineering.

Joe enjoys rowing, cross-country skiing, music and pretty much anything that lets him spend time outside. 

Rachael Simpson, Administrative Assistant

Rachael provides extensive administrative support to the Operations Manager by ensuring that Delphi's bookkeeping is accurate and up-to-date. She also offers support to the Marketing & Sales division and the greater Delphi team.

Prior to joining The Delphi Group, Rachael held administrative positions within the health and wellness sector and Carleton University. She recognizes the extent to which sustainable office practices can positively impact the greater global community and is committed to making the Delphi office an environmentally-conscious space. In extending these values outside of her workplace, Rachael supports local producers and viable markets whenever she can. She enjoys spending time at her family-run farm and composing letters on her loud 1940s Underwood.

Peter Smalley, Technical Analyst

In his role as Technical Analyst, Peter conducts research and quantitative analysis on greenhouse gas emissions, sustainability initiatives, and clean-technology for client projects. 

 Peter brings his experience to Delphi from several different sectors including oil and gas, renewable energy, transportation, and government. He has worked in a variety of capacities at these organizations including sustainability, industry stewardship and regulatory reporting, health and safety inspections, policy analysis, and clean-technology research.

 Peter has a Bachelor of Environmental Studies from the University of Waterloo where he was in the Environment and Business program specializing in Economics and Environmental Assessment.  

Kaitlin Szacki, Special CSR Research Project Analyst

As a Special CSR Research Project Analyst with Delphi, Kaitlin is developing a pilot climate change outreach campaign. Working closely with the Leading Change 2012 team in preparation for Globe 2012, Kaitlin also serves as the Funding Competition Director, engaging teams, sponsors, and judges, while facilitating ongoing dialogue and engagement on sustainability matters. 

Prior to joining Delphi, Kaitlin worked closely with the Federal Sustainable Development Strategy (FSDS) while working with the Office of Greening Government Operations as a Policy Analyst and the project lead on the FSDS Benchmarking Project. She has extensive experience developing sustainability indicators and metrics and has played an integral role in recommending strategies and target areas for the upcoming FSDS. 

Kaitlin is completing her Master’s at Carleton University in Public Policy and Administration in the Innovation, Science, and Environment stream, focusing on sustainable development, climate change, and energy policy.  She also holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Western Ontario, with an Honours Specialization in Political Science and a Minor in Criminology. Kaitlin’s specialization in public policy coupled with her fervor for the environment has made research into strategies, policies and standards in the sustainability realm a close passion for her. 

 

Our Extended Team

Jeff Beyer, Associate

Jeff BeyerJeff plays a key role in much of Delphi’s climate change policy analysis work and supports Delphi's consulting assignments through critical analysis of environmental solutions as they relate to business opportunities.

Jeff has been heavily involved in youth-led initiatives relating to both international development and the environment. He was a member of the Canadian Youth Delegation to the UN Climate Change Conference in Bali, Indonesia, helped found the World Bank's North American Youth for Development and Peace Network, and is a Presidential Scholar for ATHGO International's climate change initiative.

Jeff was recently trained by Al Gore as part of The Climate Project Canada and is raising awareness about climate issues and advocating for change. He has been heavily involved with the development organization Engineers Without Borders Canada and spent months volunteering in Ghana with the Ministry of Food and Agriculture working with farmers to encourage more sustainable farming practices.

Jeff recently graduated with a BA Combined Honours in Economics and Psychology from Carleton University. His experiences have allowed him to better appreciate the drivers of behaviour and the interconnectedness of our globe. Jeff enjoys cycling, playing the trumpet and piano, and traveling.

Carol-Ann Brown, Senior Associate

Carol-Ann BrownCarol-Ann Brown is an environmental consultant with 10 years of experience on three continents, in the private and public sectors. Her work has focused on both policy development and program implementation in the areas of climate change, emissions trading and renewable energy.

Melissa Creede, Senior Associate

Frans Diepstraten, Ph.D., Senior Associate

Dr. Frans Diepstraten has nineteen years of consulting experience in energy efficiency, sustainable energy and greenhouse gas emission reduction projects, in a national and international context. Frans has gained experience with the design and implementation of energy management and benchmarking programs in many different branches of industry. He has performed and managed energy audits of buildings and manufacturing facilities, feasibility studies for renewable energy technology, and distributed energy supply concepts for residential and light industrial areas. Frans is a RETScreen 4.0 trainer for WADE Canada. Additionally, Frans is well-versed in provincial and federal regulations regarding emissions of greenhouse gasses, and has supported and managed the verification of greenhouse gas baseline applications and regulatory compliance documents, as well as the development of greenhouse gas emission management plans for industrial facilities. Through various working group Frans contributed to the development of the regulations regarding carbon credits. Through his energy-related work in 15 countries on three continents, Frans has obtained the flexibility and cultural sensitivity required to operate efficiently in new and changing circumstances.

Stephanie Foster, Senior Associate

Stephanie has over 20 years experience in project management, policy development and strategic planning in the sustainable development field, including roles in the private and public sectors as well as in academic and non-governmental organizations. She has demonstrated expertise in leading energy and sustainability projects and consulting with a range of stakeholders on implementation options. She has very good inter-personal and communication skills and adept at working across multiple technical disciplines.

Ellen Fritsch, Senior Associate

EllenEllen has extensive experience with the resource sector in British Columbia and understands first-hand the complex provincial and federal jurisdictional issues guiding land and resource management, project assessment and development. She is an associate with OnPoint Consulting, which formed a strategic alliance with The Delphi Group in early 2011.   Ellen first gained familiarity with community, industry and First Nation interests related to staking of claims, exploration and development as a provincial treaty negotiator.    Responsible for forestry, mining, fisheries, parks, culture and heritage and governance topics, Ellen analyzed legislation, policy positions and supported development of innovative treaty mandates at more than ten tables, resulting in the first two agreements after Nisga’a: Sechelt and Tsawwassen.  In her capacities with the BC government, Ellen has led legislative development or engagement processes to support amendments including: Local Government Act, Oil and Gas Activities Act, Mineral Tenure Act, land agent licensing, Petroleum and Natural Gas Act and regulations designed to meet BC’s greenhouse gas reduction targets.

Jason Grove, Ph.D., Senior Associate

Jason GroveJason has expertise in the technical analysis of greenhouse gas and criteria air contaminant emissions. Jason provides technical support for a wide range of GHG, clean air and climate change projects at Delphi.

Prior to joining us, Jason worked as a lecturer and post-doctoral research fellow at the University of Waterloo, teaching undergraduate lectures and conducting research into bioprocess simulation and statistical methods applied to complex microbial communities. 

Jason has completed a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Waterloo, focusing his research on the biofiltration of volatile organic compounds and, specifically, analysis of the microbial community in biofilters. He also holds a Master of Engineering degree, specializing in Chemical Engineering, from the University of Oxford (New College), England.

Chris Henderson, Founder

Chris HendersonChris is a Co-Founder of The Delphi Group. He held the position of CEO from 1992 - 2006. He plays a lead role in Delphi's corporate governance and provides guidance for Delphi's business strategy and development. He also plays a role in selected key projects, particularly in the areas of clean energy and corporate sustainable development.

Chris is internationally recognized as one of Canada's foremost thinkers on innovation in the areas of business, cleantech, renewable energy and corporate sustainability.

Chris has formal education in environmental technology, business administration (graduate diploma), and economics (undergraduate degree).

Chris plays a number of major leadership roles in Ottawa and for Canada. He is the current Private-Sector Co-Chair of The Ottawa Partnership the umbrella guiding body for economic development in the Nation's Capital; and immediate Past-Chair for the Ottawa Centre for Research and Innovation. He has served as Vice-Chair of Ottawa Economic Development, and has Chaired the Canadian Environmental Industry Association. He is Senior Advisor to the GLOBE Foundation of Canada, and has been on the Expert Advisors Panel to Canada's Commission for Environment and Sustainable Development for the past decade.

George Macauley, Senior Associate

George has over 25 years of experience in economic modeling and analysis, and  policy advice on a broad range of issues. He is an associate with OnPoint Consulting, which formed a strategic alliance with The Delphi Group in early 2011.  Since 1991, George has been an independent consultant providing strategic advice to the British Columbia government and private industry on a range of issues including oil and gas (economic), aboriginal affairs (Canada/BC cost sharing, land and resource, negotiation support), justice transformation (economic), carbon offsets (procurement), forests (economic, policy, GIS), procurement processes, and gaming (economic).  George has significant experience with financial/economic modeling and development of applications using the Oracle RDBMS. George has a Law degree from the University of Victoria, an MA (Economics) from the University of Western Ontario and a BA (Economics) from the University of Victoria.

David Molinski, Senior Associate

David MolinskiDavid has over 20 years of experience in the energy and environment fields.  In 2006, he founded OnPoint Consulting, which has since formed a strategic alliance with The Delphi Group.  David has built a solid reputation in the public and private sectors by providing leadership, strategic counsel and effective strategies that lead to success.  David started work for Manitoba Energy and Mines in 1990 as an Economist in the Energy Division.  In 2001, David joined the BC Ministry of Energy and Mines where he focused on supporting the development of a competitive environment for responsible oil and gas development.  Between 2003 and 2006, David was Assistant Deputy Minister for the Oil and Gas Division. Through OnPoint Consulting, David works with a broad range private companies, utilities, governments and First Nations involved in British Columbia’s energy sector.  David holds a Master of Natural Resources Management from the University of Manitoba and a Bachelor of Arts (Economics) from the University of Winnipeg.

Hewitt Roberts, Senior Associate

Hewitt RobertsHewitt has over 15 years of experience in developing enterprise-level management software solutions and has worked with dozens of the world's largest corporations both domestically and internationally. Hewitt’s work with Delphi focuses on the development and ongoing improvement of Delphi’s growing suite of software solutions that support Delphi’s climate change and sustainability services.

Prior to joining Delphi, Hewitt was the Director of Global Sustainability Strategy for BSI Management Systems and was the founder and CEO of Entropy International. Entropy International is a leading provider of web-based software solutions for integrated environmental, health & safety, quality and supply chain management. Founded in 1996, Entropy International was acquired by BSI in 2006 and now trades as BSI Entropy.

Hewitt received a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Victoria, Canada, an MSc in Environmental Management and Policy from the International Institute for Industrial Environmental Economics in Lund, Sweden and an MBA from Lancaster University, UK. He is author of a number of publications on various subjects including: climate change, environmental management, corporate governance, externalities management and was the co-author of the 1998 Butterworth and Heinemann publication The ISO 14001 EMS Implementation Handbook.

Monica Sippola, Senior Associate

Monica SippolaMonica Sippola specializes in renewable energy, carbon and clean technology business development.  In 2010, Monica founded Eco Consulting Inc., a consultancy providing environmental markets and cleantech origination and business development advice.  Services include strategic commercialization, structuring, risk assessment, due diligence and market research analysis. 

Monica has 14 years of energy industry experience spanning marketing, trading and power generation development.  For the past 6 years, she has worked exclusively within the renewable energy, carbon and cleantech sectors.  Her environmental markets experience includes originating, developing and marketing a North American-wide carbon offset portfolio, assisting in large-scale wind power project development, and evaluating cleantech opportunities for viability and investment.  She has a wealth of transactional experience, including the analysis and negotiation of a variety of complex commercial agreements.

Prior to forming Eco Consulting Inc., Monica spent over 10 years at TransCanada Corp. and also worked for Direct Energy.  Monica has a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) from the University of Calgary.  In her spare time, she enjoys the mountains, especially while skiing and mountain biking.

Trina Talarico, Senior Associate

Trina is a management consultant and principal with OnPoint Consulting, which formed a strategic alliance with The Delphi Group in early 2011. Trina has been providing public policy and management consulting services to governments and private sector clients since 1998. Trina’s work has taken her from Washington DC, to Vancouver BC, to Ottawa ON and back to Victoria. Over the course of her career, Trina has also worked in communications and public affairs, in both Canada and the United States. Trina has provided strategic advice and analysis to municipal, provincial, federal and First Nations governments, as well as the non-profit and private sectors on a broad range of issues. Prior to joining OnPoint, Trina was a senior consultant with Kaufman Thomas and Associates and the Centre for Collaborative Government (Ottawa ON), specializing in policy development, consultation and engagement, alliance building, and strategic planning and facilitation. Trina joined OnPoint Consulting in 2009 bringing 12+ years of policy and management consulting experience. Since then, Trina has been focused in the natural gas and renewable energy sectors in BC, providing services to private companies, utilities, governments and First Nations involved in British Columbia’s energy sector. Trina holds a Master’s of Public Administration from the University of Victoria and a Bachelors of Arts from Vassar, NY.

Nathan Taylor, Senior Associate

Nathan Taylor is an expert in corporate environmental performance, with a specialty in the application of Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) methodologies to product design and sourcing processes.  Over the past decade, he has provided professional services in the area of sustainability and environmental impact for clients such as Canadian Tire, Ford Motor Company, Method, Chevron, Steelcase, Whirlpool, US Postal Service, and the California Air Resources Board.  Nathan’s breadth of experience has included published research in applied LCA to the retrofit of low income public housing in New Zealand, developed an honour’s course in sustainability at the University of Georgia, provided environmental consulting services to government and utility organizations at URS Corporation, and lead methodology development, professional services, and software design as the first employee of Planet Metrics (now part of PTC's Windchill Product Analytics  suite).  

Today, through collaboration and partnerships with such industry leaders as Carnegie Mellon University and the Delphi Group (CAN), Nathan continues to research and provide services built around innovative applications of LCA and business intelligence methodologies, such as environmentally preferable sourcing, Design for Environment, commodity and regulatory price risk, and supply chain sustainability.  

Hailing from the beautiful mountain town of Asheville, North Carolina, he balances number crunching with ample time in the woods, by kayak, mountain bike, or foot.

Michelle Van Tol, Financial Advisor

Michelle has over 20 years of experience as a finance executive and has been instrumental in the growth of numerous companies overseeing their venture capital financing, public offerings and mergers and acquisitions activities.

Previously Michelle served as CFO for Symagery Microsystems, which was acquired by Psion PLC in 2005 and CFO at Kinaxis, which obtained $50 million in financing through a private placement. Michelle began her career as a senior accountant at KPMG and later served in a number of roles at Newbridge Networks including assistant vice president.

Michelle holds an MBA from the University of Ottawa and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Carleton University and is a Chartered Accountant and member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants (CICA).
